Specsavers Series – 800 1500m Freestyle

800m

13 year old Ailish Rabey was in record breaking form, finishing inside the Championship age group record in the 800m freestyle Championships staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.  Improving on her personal best by over 4 seconds, she was delighted with her time of 10.28.78, smashing the record previously held by her sister Orla which had stood at 10.45.46.

Orla Rabey remained the fastest of the day over the 32 lengths with her time of 10.15.32, whilst Masters Swimmer, Chloe Grover finished inside her age group record with a great time of 11.02.81.

In the younger age groups there were some brilliant personal best times with Oriana Wheeler recording an excellent time of 11.19.10 for the 12 year olds, over 10 seconds better than her entered time to take first place.

In the youngest age group – 11 years, Lauren Varley competing in this event for the very first time finished in 12.58 32.

1500m

A 7.15am start did not deter the eager Barracudas distance swimmers from competing in the annual 1500m Championships.

Toby Fitzgerald recorded the fastest time of the day in 17.52.37 ahead of Louis Tostevin who also looked strong touching in 17.57.18.

15 year old Tom Stapley had a superb swim improving on his entered time by over 22 seconds to win his age group in 19.32 12.  Rollo Tiffin recorded the best time for the 14 year olds – 20.15.94 and Jake Williams for the 13 year olds – 20.50.69

There was a great turn out from the Masters with Mike Flower taking first position in 19.25.83
