Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club
Lightning strikes twice for the Boltons!
A strong team of fifteen Barracudas travelled to Winchester for the final weekend of the Hampshire County Swimming Championships, with the weekend focusing on the younger age groups. Competing against tough opposition, from 23 clubs in the County the Barracudas certainly made their mark.
Henry Bolton, Zach Maiden and Cooper Robinson returned to the pool once more and continued their medal winning performances. Fly specialist Robinson won bronze in the 100 and 200 fly and Maiden two silvers and four bronze in a multitude of events. However, it was Bolton who reached the top of the podium with a gold medal winning performance in the 50m freestyle. He was also awarded a further three silver medals 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke.
Not to be outdone by her brother, Lotte Bolton had an incredible weekend. Swimming in the 12-year-old age group, Bolton amassed three golds, two silvers and 2 bronze. Her 50m-freestyle time from the weekend currently ranks her first Nationally. Also on medal winning form was Phoebe Sebire. This was Sebire’s first ever Hampshire County competition and the first time ever swimming in a long course competition. The young swimmer competed in the 10-11 years age group winning a silver and a bronze, as well as finishing in a top 10 position in her remaining five events.
In addition to Sebire a further four swimmers travelled to the competition for the first time, these were Thea Maiden, Phoebe Harradine, Elliot Davies and Albie Sarre. All four swimmers made at least one final, with Maiden and Harriadine just missing the medals finishing in 4th place in the 50 free in their respective age groups. Davies reached the final in 50 fly finishing in a respectable 6th place. Sarre aged just 10 years old was the youngest travelling swimmer, competing at the bottom of the 10-11 year age group. Sarre’s impressive performances saw him ranked in the top 10 in all of his eight events, gaining valuable experience of swimming heats and finals.
In the 12 year age group, there were places in the final for Freddie Moherndl - 50m backstroke 5th , Kobe Robinson - 50m breaststroke 5th and Penelope Le Noury - 50m butterfly 6th.
