The Evans Bond Series 2025 Round 1

100m backstroke, 100m Individual Medley and 50m freestyle.

The first round of the 2025 Evans Bond Series got off to a brilliant start on Saturday

with the first record of the year being totally smashed in the boys 14/15 age group –

50m freestyle.

The record books have been re-written

by Henry Bolton with an incredible 25.57s

The time which was set back in 2011by former freestyle Island star Miles Munro, had

stood at 27.22 for the last 14 years – but now the record books have been re-written

by Henry Bolton to read an incredible 25.57, which was also fastest time of the day

for the men. Henry also placed 1 st in the 100m backstroke and second by a

fingernail in the 100m IM to Zach Maiden. Maiden hitting the pads in 1.08.65 to

Bolton’s 1.08.69. Maiden placed second in the other two events, with Cooper

Robinson in 3 rd position in all three.

Fastest times of the day for the men in the 100IM and backstroke went to Joshua

Dunning who with steady performances recorded 1.04.05 and 1.03.82 respectively,

he also won the 50m freestyle in his age group. Cameron Lee placed 2 nd in both

100m backstroke and 50m freestyle, James Dickinson 2 nd in 100IM and 3 rd in 50m

freestyle. Spike Jinks and Conor Osborough, both gaining a bronze each in 100m

IM and 100m backstroke respectively.

Fastest times for the ladies in all three events went to Molly Staples who looked

sharp – with a clear win of 1.07.81 in the backstroke from Elodie Riley and Jemima

Green who touched in the closest of finishes 1.10.00 and 1.10.01. Elodie Riley also

placed equal second with her sister Delphine in the 100m IM each with a time of

1.11. 86. Elodie also placed second in the 50m freestyle. Jemima Green took third

in the backstroke and Delphine – 3 rd in the 50m freestyle.

Triple gold medallists were Nigella-Rae Trescothic for the 10-year-old girls, Phoebe

Sebire (11 years) Luke Adcock 12/13 years, Megan Carter (14/15 years) who all

showed some great improvements in their times as they continue to develop

technically.

The podium finishers in the 10-year age group, behind Nigella -Rae Trescothic were

Chelsea Parsons, two silvers, Maia Holland a silver and 2 bronze and Amelia Sarre

a 3 rd in the 100m backstroke,

In the 11 years age group, behind some amazing swims from Phoebe Sebire, it was

Thea Maiden who took a hat trick of silver and Isabelle Price 3 bronze.

The 12/13 boys, behind the ever-improving Luke Adcock who is 13 years, saw

similar with Freddie Moherndl gaining 3 silver and Caelan Osborough 3 bronze, both

at the bottom of the age group.


The 12/13 girls shared the spoils between four swimmers. A medal of each colour for

Erin Mckenna who had a great backstroke race at the start of her campaign

recording 1.21.15. She took this from Charlotte Bolton, who is swimming at the

bottom of the age group and touched a whisker away in 1.21.43. Bolton however

took gold in the IM and freestyle. A great second place in the 50m freestyle going to

Phoebe Harradine in 30.25. Charlotte Holland shone through to take bronzes in the

back and IM.

Behind Megan Carter aged just 14, in the 14/15 years – was Jess Boyle with 3

silvers and Eden Smith with bronze in 100IM and 50 freestyle leaving the back

bronze to Caitlin Lee.


In the 10-year-old boys age group, Albie Sarre won the backstroke in an impressive

time 1.27.69 and the IM in 1.33.09. It was Henry Watson who stormed home to take

the freestyle medal in a great time of 37.70. Watson taking two further bronzes,

while there was some exciting swimming coming from Theo Cairns who placed 3 rd in

50m freestyle and runner up in the other two events.


There was a close tussle for first place in the 100m backstroke between Henry

Wilson and Elliot Davies, recording 1.40.57 and 1.40.72. The tables were turned in

the 100IM with Elliot taking the top place from Henry. George Hartley had a speedy

swim to place in 50m freestyle and a third in the IM. Raef Sebire took bronze in

back and freestyle.


In the youngest age group – 9 years and their first Barracuda competition, there

were some really great swims. Daisy Pham took gold in the 100m backstroke from

Grace Beale who placed second. Daisy finishing with two further silvers, Grace won

the 50m freestyle and Ava -Lily Cooper won the IM and took bronze in the other

events,

For the nine-year-old boys Ari Homan was a double gold medallist in the backstroke

and IM, but had to settle for silver in the 50m freestyle which went to a great effort

from Henry Le Pelley, who went home with a medal of each colour. The other

podium finisher was Gus Rees with a silver and two bronze.

Throughout the morning the swimmers were collecting points for their respective

teams – the Fins or the Flippers. The Fins looking to win the end of year event,

which went to the Flippers last year, by just one point.
