One Hour Challenge

The object is for swimmers to achieve the greatest possible distance within one hour. The results are then collated with those received worldwide by the BLDSA in the following age groups. 9 and under, 10/11, 12/13, 14/15, 16/17, 18/19, 20/24, 25/29, 30/34, 35/39, 40/44, 45/49, 50/54, 55/59, 60/64, 65/69, 70/74, 75/79, 80/84 years and 85 and over. Age as at 1st January in the year of the swim.

The British Long-Distance Swimming Association receives entries from throughout the world in this event. Our participation in previous years has resulted in the Barracudas receiving a great haul of gold, silver and bronze medals.

If you wish to take part, please sign up in the Postal Swim register at the Swim School office. Please note only those who sign up and register on time will be permitted to swim.

COVID 19 – THE BDLSA ARE WAITING TO SEE IF THEY CAN GO AHEAD IN THE UK AND HAVE THEREFORE MAY EXTEND THE DATE. WE WILL STILL GO AHEAD BUT INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING TIMES WILL BE ON HOLD FOR NOW.

The event will be staged as follows:
Saturday 19th February 7.30am – 8.30am All those who attend 6.00pm to 7.00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and Masters who attend early morning training.
Saturday 19th February 9.00am – 10.00am for those who train at this time

In the past all participants have received a BLDSA embroidered badge in recognition of their efforts. The first three places in each age group should receive gold, silver and bronze medals. The results of individual performances will be combined to form team entries.
