50m Breast and Free

Fastest times of the day in the 50m freestyle events of the Specsavers Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club went to Max Thornton and Courtney Butcher. Proving that triathletes can also sprint, Max was surprised and delighted to produce a lifetime best of 26.41 to place first overall. Courtney looked strong too, as she just took the touch from Annalise Munro in 27.07.

Competing in the Specsavers Series for the first time, in the very youngest age group – 9 years, the honours went to Gabrielle Wilcox and Oliver Graham who recorded great times of 40.93 and 43.31 respectively.

Oriana Wheeler and Thierry Le Cheminant, both produced lifetime bests of 35.41 and 36.88 to take the 10 year olds titles.

In the 11 year age group Pip Gallagher and Ailish Rabey had a tight finish with Pip just touching in 33.52 with Ailish on 33.80. The boy’s winner in this age group was Jake Williams.

Sophie Wilcox and Max Gill swam really well in the 12/13 age group, both producing personal bests of 30.33 and 30.43 respectively. Orla Rabey and William Russell gained maximum points in the 14/15 age group.

In the Masters section there were great wins for Ian Hubert, Jo Baker, Tim Lowe, Jo Winberg and Richard Nash.

The 50m breaststroke event saw Will Russell and Annalise Munro produce the fastest times of the day, Will recording a great lifetime best of 35.27 to also win the 14/15 year age group. Annalise also produced a personal best of 35.42 in the 16 and over age group. Adam Ashcroft’s time of 35.70 secured his 6 points in the boys 16 and over category.

Nine year olds age group winners were Gabrielle Wilcox and Oliver Graham. The 10 year olds boy’s race could not have been closer with Xander Graham on 53.34, Rory McKenna – 53.59 and Thierry Le Cheminant – 53.72. Oriana Wheeler was the girls champion in this age group.

Hampshire County finalists Pip Gallagher and John Welbourne secured the 11 year old titles with another County swimmer Tatiana Tostevin winning the 12/13 girls event, along with Max Gill who won the boys race.

Hannah Rosumek won the 14/15 year title for the girls in an encouraging time of 38.54.

The Masters titles went to Marcus O’Neil, Jo Baker, Tim Lowe, Jo Winberg and Nick Moss.
